So can the licensed music still be cut/combined/mixed?

    •  53 хвилини тому

As long as all your tracks are clear, and the artist hasn't stipulated that you cannot do that, as I understand it, you can. But you should really consult an expert in copyright law to be sure.

  • @cyberqueen7784
    @cyberqueen7784 Годину тому

Oh my goodness! I get it because of copyright law, but still, it makes me upset because now I can't use a lot of foreign language music for any USFS competitions now. ASCAP only control 75% while a third party controls the rest of the 25%. I'm an ISI member currently, but I did have USFS membership in college and am planning to renew that membership through my club this year. Not sure if ISI is gonna go through with something like this as well.

    •  51 хвилина тому

Technically, it has nothing to do with USFS or ISI, you can personally be sued by an the owner of a song if you use their track without permission. U.S. Figure Skating is just putting it out there so that members are aware. So, if you use a track with ISI, regardless of their policy, if its not licensed the owner of the work can sue - this has always been the case.

My daughter is currently in basic 6 and that rink offers Pre-freeskate through to freeskate 2. Another rink has Aspire levels. Where should I place her when she completes basic 6?

    •  4 дні тому

Pre-Free Skate thru Free Skate 6 are still part of the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. Aspire is the "bridge" from Learn to Skate USA to U.S. Figure Skating. However, the Aspire levels are only for competition. There are no Aspire levels in the Learn to Skate USA curriculum. If you are ready to jump over to U.S. Figure Skating, then the Aspire program may be better for you. However, if you prefer to stay in Learn to Skate USA, you may consider the rink that offers up to Free Skate 2.

    •  8 днів тому

At the time I took the course, the Pn1 course counted toward the Elite Trainer certification. That was in 2020 when I posted this video. You would have to reach out to ISSA and inquire about its current policies.

Why don't ice skaters use waxed laces? I use them for my roller skates, and started using them with my ice skates, and it's so much easier to tie!

    •  10 днів тому

Competitive and instructional figured skate manufacturers engineer their skates to work with specific laces. With Edea, for example, because of the lateral flexion design, waxed laces can actually cause the skates to break :(

Hi Aimee! I’m a roller figure skater and I wanted to say that the last few years, in the roller skating community, solo dance has become HUGE. Like, there still free skate skaters, however, now most of the skaters choose solo dance. People say is because they can achieve to a international level sooner. I don’t know if is actually true, but in my opinion is so beautiful to watch. In Argentina, the top nacional solo dance skater is Delfina Veljanovich. Worldwide there are Rebecca Sasso (Italy) and Erika Alarcon (Paraguay). Honestly, the three of them are majestic to watch. I hope you like them! Nice videos! 🫶🏼🩷🛼

Solo dance is becoming more common in ice skating too! It's a wonderful option for many skaters!

True! Especially if you don’t like jumps or, like a skater I know said “I started solo dance because I wasn’t good at free skating but I love the sport”. What I love about solo dance is the interpretation and the artistic aspect of it

So I’m in my early teen years and want to start figure skating soon! I have a few questions! First, I am a good skater in hockey skates and rollerblading, but I have a super hard time skating in figure skates because I’m not used to it. Should I start doing figure skating lessons with a private coach as soon as I start skating, or should I do learn to skate for a bit and switch to private coach! 2. As just beginning, should I get a nutritionist and personal trainer that is qualified for off-ice training, or should I wait until I’m a little more experienced. I workout every day already and eat healthy.

    •  11 днів тому

If you can afford private lessons, you can start there. Otherwise, I suggest starting with group Learn to Skate rather than just trying to figure it out on your own. You can switch to a private coach once you have learned the basic skills in groups. You can wait until you are more experienced to work with a an off-ice coach and nutritionist.

I got my first Edea skates the other day and wore them during a free session at my local rink, before my next lesson. I was just trying to get used to it and this hockey player (who said he also teaches figure skating even though he has no experience with figure skating, so he said) stopped me and told me that my skates were too lose and asked me to pull over so he can re-lace them for me. From the starting point till the ankle hooks, he pulled them so strong, so tight, my feet started getting numb instantly after a minute seconds and they were in so much pain, I had to take breaks every 30 seconds and hold on to a fence, literally shaking. With each of his pull, my body would perform a small jump because of the pain and I had to squeeze my fists to endure. Not even a finger would fit neither the front or the back of the ankle section. He said this was how it was suppposed to be and I had to endure it and I didn't question anything trusting his "wisdom". I really wish I watched this video before or at least wait for next lesson :( I'm thankful for the helpful information!

Hello and thank you for your content! I've been skating on and off since 2008 with a huge break after 2011. I started back with a vengeance 4 months ago (I'm 57 BTW, and also a keen artistic roller skater) and have been able to get through the levels quickly with 30 minutes Private lesson plus 4-5 hours skating per week. My current bugbear is the forward inside 3-turn which seems to be an impossible dream at the moment. Any tips most welcome (I follow the UK LTS programme).

    •  14 днів тому

Good for you! It's very difficult to provide specific tips via UA-cam as every skater is different. The best advice I could give you is to follow your coach's advice-they know you and your skating best and are the best person to provide you with guidance.

The main issue I had with the vote (and I got to vote) is the vote wasn’t really broadcasted well, and that seems like it was by design. I only knew to vote because someone in our area did a plea with a competition wrap up email. Then I was able to go back and find the email. The email didn’t stand out at all. This was a major change that they had already had figured out and only did a “vote” to not violate rules. If a majority of members voted and we all understood honestly what led to this decision, and the results were the same, I’d be fine with it. I don’t think that’s the case. USFS keeps rolling out programs that are in beta mode, at best. They now have a monopoly on competitive skating. Many coaches are in areas where they can’t choose ISI, and even if they were, USFS is still the go to for tests and anything professional. This monopoly, fake presentation of “price savings” is ridiculous and insulting. I was only happy about getting higher level recognition without it nationally ranked skaters. Now they lost me.

I can't say that I disagree! The communication on this could have been better. While I can't say I had an experience where I didn't see the messages, I will say that information came across as disjointed. In order to produce this video, I had to go back through at least four or five different webinars, as well as emails and reformat the information to communicate it effectively. Both sides could have done a better job at communicating with clearer messaging.

First of all, hello, I have a question for you. There is no place where I can buy skates where I live. My coach told me to buy online. In this case, will it cause any problems if I buy it online?

    •  15 днів тому

Assuming that your coach measured your foot and provided a specific recommendation of the brand, model, and size (including width) and is able to assist you with heat molding, shaping, adjustments, mounting and sharpening, you could buy online. However, if they did not give you any specifics and just said "buy online," I do not recommend that you do that as you will likely run into issues such as improper sizing. I made an entire video about what to do if you do not have a skate shop near you. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/MqYmERC5tgk/v-deo.html

What would happen in a scenario where an adult skater who cannot skate down signs up for a competition *before* taking a free skate test at whatever level, then happens to sign up for a free skate test *after* they already signed up for a competition. The test date is only a couple days before the competition date, and the skater ends up passing the free skate test. Is the level the skater can compete at determined at the time of competition sign up? Or must the adult skater contact the competition chair to try to change levels a few days before the competition? Asking for a friend…..

    •  15 днів тому

Unfortunately, once an adult passes a test, they must compete at that level, regardless of the date of the competition entry. I would recommend that adults either hold off on testing until after the competition or skate up one level.

Q: Can a single skater just take Free skate test to compete in singles or must the skater have the skating skills test the same? Thanks!

    •  16 днів тому

Skating Skills tests are a prerequisite to the Singles Free Skate tests. So, before a skater can take a Singles test, they must have already passed the Skating Skills test of the same level.

Just want to say Thank You for this video. It's more info than we've received from USFS. I have mostly LTS students / CompeteUSA skaters, but I did have a skater take USFS tests last season. So I (and other coaches at my low-level rink) have to decide what to do. Very frustrating.

    •  17 днів тому

You're very welcome! I basically put everything together that U.S. Figure Skating has provided and condensed it so that it would be easier to understand, as they have released information in different formats and at different times, which has created some of the confusion. I'm glad that you find it helpful!

I have a lot of fun in hockey scates and hybrid scates. I bought myself hockey ones for fun! Why? Because no figure skates ever worked on me, always too small in the toe box. I found hockey ones so much more comfortable for me!

    •  18 днів тому

Figure skates can be shaped to accommodate a wider toe box. Also, some brands have wider toe boxes than others. It’s best to get fitted for figure skates.

    • @viledressler4909

I tried to but the moment she measured me she said she'd have to order "special scates" and they might be double. My budget at the time. So I hose hockey skates and while it was kinda hard to get into it, I find them very comfortable! I do enjoy your video a lot. There's a lot of helpful information!

I’m 12 years old 5’5 and a size 8-8.5 in normal shoes and I’ve skated before and my birthday was last week and I’m having a ice skating party this Saturday and I just got skates from Amazon and they came today I got them in a size 9 and I feel like they fit perfectly but I am also wearing a thicker sock they are Ugg ones and they are super soft and walking around in the skates feels good they don’t feel tight but they also don’t feel loose I feel like they are just perfect I tried bending my toes in them and I can bend them just barley but they feel good.

    •  17 днів тому

You should be wearing very thin socks. The socks you describe sound way too think for you to feel the skate and have control. I am an 8.5 in street shoes and 9 in sneakers. But, I wear a 6.5 in Jackson and Reidell skates.

What's the difference between NCCPT exam and ISSA CPT final exam?

    •  21 день тому

As I explain in the video, the ISSA Online Exam is not proctored, untimed, and open book. But, if you work for a fitness center, gym, or another facility, it may require that you pass the accredited exam which is proctored, timed, and not open book. That's where the NCCPT exam would be required.

    • @blooodshine99
      @blooodshine99 21 день тому

Can I work with an ISSA certificate or does it have to be the NCCPT

    •  21 день тому

That depends on what the facility you are looking to work in requires. Some will accept the online certification. Others will only accept the NCCPT certification. It's best to check with the facilities you are interested in working in to see what they require.

Hi. I just found your channel and i have a question for you. I am a figure skating for 1 year now and i will start learning scratch spinns and loops soon. I planned to get the edea chorus ones but i am not sure if their good for me because in germany is nit a skate fitter either. So maybe you have a recommendation for me ❤️ (I already love your videos and will continue watching you❤️)

    •  20 днів тому

Edea boots need to be fitted and custom shaped. If you don’t have anyone that can do that, I would suggest looking into other options.

    •  20 днів тому

I don’t have any first hand experience with Jackson blades, outside of those that come with boots as complete outfits. In my experience nothing compares to JW and MK.

Anyone have any luck on the bigger sizes? Hoping to get them shipped, as there’s not much sports shops round here. Xxx

Skating and its rules have become a lot more complicated than it used to be. However, it is a good idea that a skater learn both the man's and the ladies parts for dance at the onset because it will help them a lot later. With all of these changes, skating has also become a lot more expensive if you are competing, not that it was ever inexpensive.

  • @lizjansen2496
    @lizjansen2496 Місяць тому

Same. I had the cheapest coach who didn’t insist on focusing on the fundamentals. While I became fairly good considering I skipped some steps, there are certain elements that I’m embarrassingly bad at. Stopped when I was 15, wasn’t serious, hated competing, resumed when I was 35. It came back, but I’m afraid to practice correctly now that there’s a lot more injury risk.

    •  Місяць тому

Try to practice conservatively until you get more comfortable again 😀 You got this!

I actually didn't have an option to get fitted when getting the first pair of skates cuz the shop that was nearest to me and had those skates is 450km away from my city and the cost of travelling that far away is like 200$ (Almost the cost of my skates cuz I have Jackson Artiste), thats a lot. In USA you have a lot of ice rinks and ice skates shops but in my country there is 25 ice rinks for almost 40 mln people. There aren't also many skating shops here in Poland so the only option I had was to get measurements of my foot and ask the shop what size I should pick. My skates fit me well. Idk if I was lucky that they fit or maybe that would actually work for more people.

    •  29 днів тому

It may seem as if we have a lot of ice rinks and skate shops in the US, but that depends on where you live! Many skaters have to move or travel long distances to skate. It's quite common for skaters to have to travel even further to get their skates sharpened or for a fitting. I actually had to fly once just to purchase new skates! I have a whole video about what to do if you don't have a skate shop near you (as many people worldwide have that challenge). You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/MqYmERC5tgk/v-deo.html

Hi Aimee! So the perks are nice... but i had skipped some orders for a while, and then when i went back, i saw how they "expire" if you don't order for a while, so that's not the greatest. Also, they started charging me for shipping again, and i literally only moved 30 min away from my last place! Ugh.. I stopped ordering for a while because of that. Are you still using them?

I *just* returned to skating after taking a 24 year + break! I had tested to my Junior Moves and had also passed levels in figures (I still have my scribe!), dance and singles - I came across your page and am grateful to find it. I returned to skating SO CONFUSED, especially as a 40 something year old adult. One of my only regrets skating was NOT taking and finishing my moves in the field. Now in my return, I am taking a 'Learn to Skate' class to get used to the ice again and its CRAZY how much I have lost, which makes me even more depressed that I let my anxiety take the best of me and I didn't complete my moves in the field years ago. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!

    •  Місяць тому

I did that too! When I returned 10 years ago, I took Learn to Skate classes until I switched to private lessons. It was a great way to ease back in!

Hi Aimee, I have a question if you don't mind! I am currently skating in Edea Piano model, im an adult skater (70KG) and Im working towards my /axel/double jumps! I find Piano nodel a bit to harsh on my feet for longer periods of time (2h+ and its starting to hurt) I tried ordering concerto boots, but no luck with it as Edea dont have many in size 295.... anyway today at the rink shop I noticed they had Edea Flamenco Ice boots in exactly my size! Stiffness 80, according to Edea web site.. Do you think it's safe to go on dance boot and practice my doubles in the future and its better to stick to free style boots only?? There is no information about it anywhere else, interested to see what you think! Love your videos, and thank you in advance for your reply!

    •  Місяць тому

I too found the Piano difficult to wear for more than an hour or so. I wouldn't advise jumping in Flamenco Dance boots. Have you tried the Ice Fly - they are similar in support to the Concerto and designed for jumping. Please have a conversation with your coach and skate tech about this as well.
